Edging God/Good Out

My second book after the Amazon Bestseller Lead to Gold, the idea for this book was born many years ago when I was inspired by Wayne Dyer’s statement that “Ego” means “Edging God Out”.

The realization hit me that the opposite of EGO is IGI: “Inviting God In”.

In this book, I lay out my IGI philosophy while offering seven foundational principles including gratitude, integrity, forgiveness, and service that are essential for success, abundance, and happiness.

The IGI Principles help you discover your unique gifts and guide you in sharing them with the world as a spiritual being in this human experience.

These principles and strategies apply to all forms of professional work, whether the individual is a solopreneur, the CEO of a multi-million dollar company, or an employee in a company of any size.

If you are seeking to bring Spiritual Intelligence into both your life and your business or work this book will undoubtedly be a valuable resource for you.

This book is the distilled essence of what I have learned from decades of leading businesses while integrating my spiritual practice and experiencing massive success, abundance, and fulfillment as a result.

“Each moment leaders, and all people, are either Edging Good Out or Inviting Good In. This is their choice, and they are always receiving the fruits of their choices.”

There are books and teachings that help you achieve business success, and there are teachings that guide you to spiritual fulfillment – but never before has there been a blueprint to achieving both.

IGI is that teaching, and this is that book!

What is an IGI Moment?

When you are fully present and totally open to what is occurring within and without you, you cease to Edge God and Goodness Out(ego) and instead allow it in.

I call this listening to the inner knowingness “IGI“, or Inviting God and Goodness In.

IGI is pronounced “iggy”. Similar to Will Smith’s famous 90’s song “Get Jiggy Wit’ It”, or if you are a bit older you may know David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust.

Living in IGI is a moment-to-moment practice of coming back to the center of your being and acting from that infinite knowing which is available when you dig down deep enough to allow it to unfold in your life.

IGI Moments happen when we Invite God and Goodness In.

When you do this, you may find that all people, all things, and all situations contain goodness and light – you only must be present and open enough to allow them to reveal themselves to you.

God is in all things and all things are in God

What is an IGI Moment?

IGI moments are those experiences of grace, beauty, surrender, forgiveness, trust, and gratitude.

They are called IGI Moments because it can only happen in a moment – in a time outside of time and a place outside of space.

Because it only takes a moment to listen within, Invite Goodness In, rather than Edging Goodness Out – to live in IGI rather than EGO.

These are IGI Moments.

Try Inviting God and Goodness In and you will discover IGI Moments and synchronicity occurring every day of your life.

My new book will offer insights and strategies for discovering IGI for yourself and will be launching this Friday

Labors of Love

Labors of love come in many forms. And there are millions of Americans and billions of people worldwide who daily express their service to others through their work in the world.

Recently, we celebrated Labor Day on what was probably one of the most unusual ones since it was designated a national holiday in 1894.

It is a tragic irony that the holiday honoring the hard work and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States took place despite the fact that a large percentage of the nation’s workforce is prevented from working.

To honor Labor Day 2020 I would like to thank the frontline workers such as doctors, nurses, police officers, emergency personnel. Also not to be forgotten are those who continue to do their jobs to keep this country running despite the risks, such as bus drivers, farmers, grocery store workers, and countless others in all manner of occupations.

The Labor of Love

As the Mother Teresa quote above alludes to, these people inspire us not only due to the fact that they keep working through such adversity, but that they do it with a positive attitude.

All of these individuals are truly engaged in labors of love in their service to their countrymen and women.

Whether you are able to continue working now, you’ve had to cut back, or you are completely unable to work, I hope that you can take time this week to reflect on the meaning of work.

Your work is much more than just earning a paycheck but in the greater sense of the word, your Work is your purpose and gift to the world.  And you can do that no matter what the external situation of the job market may be.

In fact, this time may be the perfect time to use the extra time and space available to you to start that business you have always dreamed of starting, write that book that has been forming in your mind, or begin that project that you have wanted to do but didn’t have the time.

If you need someone to talk to to help you get your new idea, project, or business off the ground, I would be glad to have a digital sit-down and help help you find your Great Work so that you may share it with the world.

The Extraordinary in the Ordinary

In a state of meditation and silence, there is a knowingness.

If you’re alert and present in the moment you are more aware of the beauty all around you. You notice how the trees bristle in the wind and how sunrises and sunsets are even more magnificent than you remembered.

You may notice the sun bounce just so off your windshield. You’ll see a little baby giggle, or watch a dog joyfully play with a ball in the yard. You may see the heightened light of spirit in people’s eyes.

In those moments there’s a knowingness that answers unspoken questions. There is a little tug at your heart or your soul that answers your question or gives you insight on some direction to take. You may sense a prompting to call someone, read a book, listen to a song, or to write something down.

Those promptings are from listening to God, being open, and in-flow.

I call this listening to the inner knowingness “IGI“, or Inviting God and Goodness In.

Living in IGI is a moment-to-moment practice of coming back to the center of your being and acting from that infinite knowing which is available when you dig down deep enough to allow it to unfold in your life.

I hope that you can create little spaces to discover that silence in your daily life.

My new book will offer insights and strategies for doing just this and will be launching within the next week

IGI & The Coronavirus Part 3: From Crisis to Opportunity

This is the third part of a three-part series of posts.

Part One focused on the practical steps we can take in our daily lives and our business and work lives.

Part Two talked about how this event can aid us in discovering what is truly important in our lives as we take the big picture perspective and discover compassion and our greater unity as Human Beings.

Part Three addresses the deeper, spiritual significance of this event and how you can view it from an IGI perspective that will help you navigate these chaotic times and evolve to experience more goodness in all aspects of your life

The current coronavirus pandemic is creating a lot of fear and uncertainty in individuals throughout the entire world.  It can be tempting to succumb to fear and despair over possible negative outcomes, as well as fall into anger at other people and political leaders who we feel aren’t responding adequately.

However, by remembering to look at this situation from the perspective of IGI we can ask, “How can I invite goodness into this circumstance? How can I suspend my judgment of this event and open to the possibility that it may serve a valuable purpose?” Perhaps the coronavirus is a great opportunity to evolve to be more of your true self.

Lead to Gold – Crisis to Opportunity

By inviting more God or goodness into our lives because of this virus and embracing what’s happening right now, we can discover whether some good can come from this.

We can take a broader perspective and see a divine purpose for the coronavirus. Mother nature and the universe have a greater intelligence than we can often understand, and perhaps this pandemic is a necessary event that humanity will ultimately benefit from.

When we think back on crises in our society like September 11, or personal crises such as immediate and unfortunate death, or businesses that have crumbled, or people that get cancer. These are very tragic and challenging things that happen, but there’s/always/immediate good that comes from that.

This may take the form of people discovering greater compassion for others as they express love and support for others. In such tragedies, people are challenged to dig deeper and find empathy where they maybe would not have felt it before. These life-changing events shake us up and remind us of what is important and many start questioning to find the meaning of life and looking at what life is all about.

How You Can Use This Situation to Transition, Transform, and Evolve

I encourage everyone to look at this event at the deepest level rather than the superficial and ask themselves: “What can I learn from it? How can I grow from it? How can I be a better spiritual human being? How can I take a better inventory of my life and correct the things that weren’t working and help make a difference for others? How can I better my products, services, companies, governments, and schools?”

Reflect on how you can best use this time, whether it’s two weeks, four weeks, or longer of slowing down and being at home quarantined. Use this time when you’re not dealing with clients to start working on that project you were going to start, that thing you were going to invent, the music you were going to make, the art piece that you were going to create, or that relationship you were going to mend.

Mother Nature and God know exactly what they’re doing and if you follow the flow of life and use this time well you will discover many benefits.

Lessons and Benefits

If we learn the lessons that this current manifestation in our lives brings, we can evolve and learn what we need to learn to become more intelligent and more loving.  And the great thing is that once we have learned the lesson, the teacher no longer needs to stick around and can leave.

This global pandemic is causing us to shift in various ways. This virus is a gift showing us how to slow down our frenetic, crazy activity. We are always on the go and rushing from one thing to another and now everyone is forced to slow down – even when we didn’t think we could. It offers us the chance to step away from our busy lives and instead spend quality time with our loved ones and in introspection.

This can also be a time to activate networks of cooperation, as people are stepping up to cooperate and reach a hand out to a neighbor who needs help, or to another company in your community. Many people have been helped through this process and made better people because of giving hands and open hearts.

This virus also sends a very clear message that we are in a global world whether we want to admit it or not. What happens to one country’s economy and health becomes a butterfly effect that affects the whole world. We may see that this event has caused the world to come together in solidarity and recognize our fundamental interconnectedness. We are all doing our best to learn from each other and meet this challenge collectively.

One could also look at this as a sort of worldwide cleansing and detoxification process. God or Life’s infinite wisdom knows that there needs to be a cleansing of our physical bodies, our psyches, our egos, our ecosystems, and the structures of our society so that we can be more healthy.

From this perspective, I don’t look at this as a punishment. I look at this as a blessing for the evolution of humanity and that this is simply the way the planet works and the way mother nature works. The ecosystem of plants, animals, organisms, and viruses is all so intertwined. Perhaps, this event will help us realize this and cause us to become more conscious of our interrelatedness with all life on Earth.

Transmuting Our Fear

One of the main issues that the coronavirus is reflecting on us all is our relationship with fear. We can look at this virus as an invitation for each one of us to face our root fear – that of survival. In the face of a global pandemic that the media is all too willing to obsess about, it is an opportunity to face that primal fear of survival and reaffirm that we are OK and we are going to be OK.

At a similarly trying time in America’s history during the Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt admonished the nation that “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”. At a time when financial panic was threatening to cause masses of people to rush to the banks and withdraw all their money, FDR rightly pointed out that the situation was not insurmountable in itself. It is only when people panic and give in to irrational fear that results in chaos and cause real damage. Likewise, this coronavirus pandemic is manageable if everyone stays calm and works together to meet this challenge.

As long as we take care of our physical, mental, and spiritual health we cannot be harmed by anything outside of ourselves and even if we contract the virus we will be able to heal from it. Rather than living in fear of something that is outside of our control, we can then surrender and trust that there is a greater intelligence at work in our lives and that intelligence is giving us exactly what we need to experience in order to evolve.

I know that the coronavirus is inconvenient for many of us and it also brings up a lot of fear. Not only our fear of death, but it is also scary for people who are going to have less income or possibly will have companies close or lose jobs. Remember that this too shall pass.

Our grandparents and parents went through the Great Depression or World War I and II or more recently we all experienced the life-changing event of September 11th. In these events, some people tragically lose their lives and some lose their loved ones. But those who live and those who grow from this experience know that this too shall pass and this will be something we will look back on and recognize that it was a difficult and trying time, but it also was necessary in the grand scheme of things to bring to the forefront things about ourselves and our civilization that need to change.

§

I anticipate this current situation resulting in long-term ripple effects that will contribute to humanity taking a quantum leap to another level of evolution and higher consciousness as a species, as individual countries, and as a world globally.  We can all look out for simultaneously big changes in the economy, healthcare, and all other areas of our society.

I invite you to contact me to find out how I can assist you in navigating this current situation to come through the eye of the storm in your personal and professional life and transmute this crisis into greater opportunity and success for yourself and your work.

IGI & The Coronavirus Part 2: An IGI Perspective on the Big Picture

This is the second part of a three-part series of posts. This post will look at the big picture of this coronavirus pandemic situation and invites you to consider how this event can aid us in discovering what is truly important in our lives as we take the big picture perspective and discover compassion and our greater unity as Human Beings.

Part One focused on the practical steps we can take in our daily lives and our business and work lives.

Part Three will address the deeper, spiritual significance of this event and how you can view it from an IGI perspective that will help you navigate these chaotic times and evolve to experience more goodness in all aspects of your life

Sometimes life gives us our greatest gifts cleverly disguised as our worst nightmares. When adversity happens we are challenged to dig deeper within and discover who we truly are and what is important in our lives.  Sometimes we need these crises to happen in our lives to awaken us from our slumber and catalyze us into a greater experience of life.

The 4 B’s

This pandemic is an event that shakes us out of the habit of our daily routine and gives us the opportunity to reflect upon our lives and re-evaluate any number of things, such as whether we are living the life we desire and whether we are taking care of our physical, mental, and spiritual health.  We can take responsibility for our bodies and our minds by taking care of our physical health and staying positive without succumbing to fear.

The time and space that you may have right now as you practice social distancing and are in a state of semi-quarantine is a great opportunity to focus on what I call the 4 B’s – Body, Bonds, Business, and Being.  These four aspects of our life and health that are essential for our well-being and happiness.

During this time, you can nurture your Body by taking a walk or doing yoga and stretching at home, as well as making sure you eat a healthy diet to bolster your immune system. With the extra time on your hands, you can improve your Bonds by spending time with your immediate family as well as calling friends and relations on the phone.  For Business, you now likely have more time to work on your business or work without distractions and can use this time to catch up on things while connecting with your clients through the Internet.  Finally, your Being can be nurtured through any number of spiritual practices or by taking time for reflection and contemplation.

What is Truly Important?

In addition to using this opportunity to nurture your total health, this pandemic offers you an opening to discover a deeper sense of vision in your life path.

I think back to years ago when my wife was unexpectedly in the hospital. I was in the middle of selling one of my companies and was very busy with emails, phone calls, text messages, and meetings up until that night when she was unexpectedly taken into the hospital. The next day, she was in the ICU unit and I wasn’t sure if she was going to live. Suddenly, everything had a completely different meaning and every email and phone call seemed so insignificant and unimportant.

I no longer cared if I responded to them or not and it completely put into perspective what was important. I delegated some of that stuff to others because people still deserve answers, but I knew it wasn’t my purpose at that time because I had a new shift in priority.

When I think about the personal crises in my life in light of the coronavirus, as much as this is life-threatening and has ended some people’s lives and will continue to do so – at the same time it is good to look at the big picture of this. What does this mean for our global planet? What does this mean to us as human beings and what does this mean for our spiritual souls?

This is something that has happened from the beginning of time. Humanity has experienced famines, floods, and diseases periodically from the very beginning. Usually, when natural disasters do their initial damage, there’s always good that comes from it in the form of innovations and learning from the past. New theorems are created, new advances in healthcare are developed, new laws are passed that benefit the people, new regulations are passed, and people innovate new ways to do business.

In the same way, this situation can lead to positive growth, changes, and innovations within a business and in our society as a whole. Changes must inevitably occur within organizations as people tighten up their belts and stop spending money on things that aren’t essential. It causes people to reach out to people they would not otherwise come into contact with as they are looking for forgiveness and a sense of unity.

While there have been occurrences of selfishness and greed, such as fighting over toilet paper, there have been far more expressions of compassion. We may see that this event has caused the world to come together in solidarity and recognize our fundamental interconnectedness.

The Big Picture Perspective

I like to visualize this fact of our interconnectedness and gain a sense of perspective with the Google Earth application. If you zoom all the way in and look at your house you can look at the roof of the house and the backyard. You can then zoom out and see the neighborhood, you zoom out again and you can see the town. You can zoom out further to see the city, then the state, then the United States or whatever country you’re in. You can keep zooming out and can see half of the world before zooming out all the way and you’re through the atmosphere and you’re through the clouds in the sky. You look down and you see the earth, this round ball that’s spinning slowly that’s got such beautiful colors with the blue in the ocean and the green and you look at it and it gives you such a different feeling, looking at from that higher level looking down onto the earth.

Anytime there are daily problems or issues within my life, my business, or my relationships, I like to say, “OK. What level of the Earth do I need to zoom this out on?”  A situation that seems very grave and serious when zoomed in up close becomes much less stressful when viewed from the broader perspective which sees the whole.

We have to deal with the problem at hand and we must have hands-on contact sometimes with these issues that might exist in business or life, or in this case, the coronavirus. But when you look at the very big global perspective and the spiritual perspective from the time humanity began and into our future you can see that we are currently in a very small place in time and space in the grand scheme of things.

By seeing the big picture perspective with this pandemic, you can see how this situation can be transformed into a benefit for yourself and for humanity as a whole.  You can see how you can use what life has given you and turn it into a benefit for yourself, your loved ones, your business, and the world.

Whatever will happen with the coronavirus, whether it continues for a month, two months, or six months, whatever it’s going to be, there will be these ripple effects and it will have consequences for our world long after that.

Compassion & Unity

In these trying times, we must be in solidarity and compassion with those who have lost and will lose loved ones to this illness. Many souls will likely choose this time to leave the Earth and while this may be looked on as neutral from the absolute perspective, from a human perspective there will be much sorrow and experience of loss. This is an opportunity for all of us to further open our hearts and embrace the sorrow of the whole world. I hope that this worldwide experience will assist us all in recognizing our fundamental unity with all life.

You can look at every situation as to what you are being in service to – your ego or IGI. It is an opportunity to choose between being in your IGI versus acting from your ego. Those who act in ego will find themselves isolated, alone, living in fear, and actually weaken their immune systems causing themselves to become more susceptible to the virus.

Those who invite goodness in and act in IGI create for themselves a vital state of inner health and find support and solidarity with all of humanity as we collectively meet this challenge and a great opportunity to make positive changes in ourselves and within our co-created world.
